When using UV printers, there may be problems such as image distortion and fuzzy caused by print head blocking. Proper handling can prevent print head damage when countering with this kind of situation. So, what are the reasons that lead to this problem? Below are the details:
Ink application
The applicable ambient temperature and humidity for the ink: Whether higher or lower ambient temperature and humidity will affect the ink viscosity, and eventually cause the abnormal output of the print heads. Normally the suggestion temperature is 22-25 and humidity 40-70%rh. The abnormal output of the print head usually thought as “the print head blocked”
Ink at present market
There are many ink firms on the market, accordingly the inks are different. Some manufacturers have trouble in controlling the volume of desiccant, this makes their ink easy to be dried. When using these inks, the drying speed will become very fast, the ink will easily block from the external. Users need to clean the print heads frequently, otherwise after long time of rest it will become permanently without timely cleaning.
Internal of the print head
There are strainers inside the print heads, if the ink stay in long time stagnant, it will be absorbed onto the strainer and the inside walls of the print heads. This usually more easy to happen when the ink viscosity is too high. The absorption of the ink on the strainer and the inside walls of the print heads will shrink the space for the ink flowing. When situation become worse, will lead to jetting problem.
Ink filtration
Most people think that the ink particle size can be the reason of blocking the print head. But in fact, it is wrong. Because the ink must go through a filter before it flow into the print head. The filtering holes of the filter is only one in ten size of the print head nozzle. If the ink particle is too large, it will be filtered and never enter the inside of the print head. Not to mention that the manufacturer would use filtration device finer than the filter to process the ink when producing.
